A Comment on the Verse

SO I’ve had an awful two weeks and this kind of slipped into the background. But fear not! I’m coming back.

If you read my posts, you’ll notice I always add the same verse to the end of my posts, and I’d like to share why.

1 Peter 3:3-4 “3Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. 4 Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” (NIV)

This verse is important to me because I often get caught up in what I look like and what I think other people think about me. I spend too much time in the morning picking out clothes, deciding on earrings, doing coming back. Too much of society is based on how someone looks, rather than who they are as a person. If society didn’t put that pressure on people, would anyone still care about how someone looks, or would personality matter more?
My personal goal is to apply this verse to myself every morning. Before I dress myself in fancy and nice clothes, I need to dress myself in kindness. If I’m going to do my hair and add fancy earrings, I need to build up my gentleness and add compassion. Putting makeup on to accent natural beauty needs to be accompanied by adding joy to accent a happy, peaceful spirit. Before I look for approval and worth in what people think, I need to look for approval in what God sees. Looking in a mirror needs to become more than just looking at the outside, it needs to become looking at the inside.
makeup and doing my hair. I care too much about what I look like to other people and if what I’m wearing is “cool” enough or if I’ll be accepted. What I really need to spend that time on is how I treat other people and how I look on the inside.
The verse says that beauty should come from the inside, which is more important to God. I spend my energy worrying about what other people think, when my energy should go towards making myself look good in God’s eyes. Why is it that I care more about temporary things than what’s actually important? If everyone were to work on having a “gentle and quite spirit” there would be far fewer conflicts. I know I personally would get in less fights with my brother and I’d be more caring and compassionate not only to friends, but to people I meet for the first time. It would be amazing to treat everyone with the kindness and gentleness this verse encourages.
This is important for everyone, not just Christians who are trying to live by the Bible. People are going to like you and be your friend because of who you are as a person, not the way you look. Looks may attract people at first, but it’s the personality and kindness that keeps people.

I hope this makes you think, and you have a wonderful day

Friday Was Skirt Day

Yesterday was so busy for me and I didn’t have time to update. So this was yesterday’s outfir.

I was in a skirt mood, but couldn’t choose which one to go with and finally chose this one. It’s a red and black and white flower patterned skirt my friend’s mom made. (It actually belongs to them, I’m just borrowing it). And I paired it with some black flats and a black shirt so the skirt was the accent.

I really liked this. It was another hot day, and I’m not a fan of wearing shorts to school so this skirt was a nice way to keep cool. One person told me with was cute. And I felt super pretty in it, which is always a bonus.

Only downside of a skirt is a) no pockets for my phone and b) I don’t like the feeling of my legs touching the seat. But, that can be easily gotten over.

I hope you have a great long weekend. I’ll post my church outfit on Sunday and then I’ll be back Wednesday when classes resume!

Wednesday was a Busy Day

Wow was yesterday busy, so excuse me for not posting about it. It was sooo hot too; like 93 freaking degrees… in September!

anyways, I loved this outfit. It’s a light blue tank top with these cute ruffles in the front. I bought it at New York and Company in addition to a white one just like it. I had capris too, since it was so hot, and my white flats. Not pictured here is the black three-quarter sleeved jacket-like cardigan I carried around.

Classrooms were chilly, but outside was super hot, so picking out an outfit that fit both conditions served to be difficult. So to solve this dilemma, I went with a tank top to keep me cool outside and the cardigan to keep my shoulders warm while sitting in class.

I can’t really think of anything wrong with this outfit… so it was a successful day! Tomorrow I’m thinking about a skirt… guess we’ll see.

1 Peter 3:3-4 “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”

Today hit 90 Degrees…

So, I didn’t get a picture of days 2, 3 or 4. This is day 5 (today). It was hot today, so I actually wore capris…that hardly ever happens at school.

This outfit consisted of simple jean Capris, a dark, but bright, blue tank top (not spaghetti straps) with a white cami layered underneath for modesty, and one of my favorite cardigans over it all. I added the back shot because it has such amazing detail to it, and I love how it droops some in the back. On my feet, I wore simple white flats and a blue and purple ankle bracelet.

This outfit was cute and cool on a 90 degree day. I love my flats because they are cute and somewhat fancy, but easy and comfortable to walk in. (and walking is an important thing at any college!) I like this cardigan because it makes a tank top more modest, but is short-sleeved and cool.

The only issue with this outfit is the layers. I got warmer faster than if I didn’t have the cami under it. But the cami keeps the chest in check and keeps me modest. So I guess getting hot a little faster is an okay consequence for being modest, because with the short-sleeved light cardigan, I could cool off pretty quickly.

Have a wonderful day!
