Friday Was Skirt Day

Yesterday was so busy for me and I didn’t have time to update. So this was yesterday’s outfir.

I was in a skirt mood, but couldn’t choose which one to go with and finally chose this one. It’s a red and black and white flower patterned skirt my friend’s mom made. (It actually belongs to them, I’m just borrowing it). And I paired it with some black flats and a black shirt so the skirt was the accent.

I really liked this. It was another hot day, and I’m not a fan of wearing shorts to school so this skirt was a nice way to keep cool. One person told me with was cute. And I felt super pretty in it, which is always a bonus.

Only downside of a skirt is a) no pockets for my phone and b) I don’t like the feeling of my legs touching the seat. But, that can be easily gotten over.

I hope you have a great long weekend. I’ll post my church outfit on Sunday and then I’ll be back Wednesday when classes resume!

Wednesday was a Busy Day

Wow was yesterday busy, so excuse me for not posting about it. It was sooo hot too; like 93 freaking degrees… in September!

anyways, I loved this outfit. It’s a light blue tank top with these cute ruffles in the front. I bought it at New York and Company in addition to a white one just like it. I had capris too, since it was so hot, and my white flats. Not pictured here is the black three-quarter sleeved jacket-like cardigan I carried around.

Classrooms were chilly, but outside was super hot, so picking out an outfit that fit both conditions served to be difficult. So to solve this dilemma, I went with a tank top to keep me cool outside and the cardigan to keep my shoulders warm while sitting in class.

I can’t really think of anything wrong with this outfit… so it was a successful day! Tomorrow I’m thinking about a skirt… guess we’ll see.

Today hit 90 Degrees…

So, I didn’t get a picture of days 2, 3 or 4. This is day 5 (today). It was hot today, so I actually wore capris…that hardly ever happens at school.

This outfit consisted of simple jean Capris, a dark, but bright, blue tank top (not spaghetti straps) with a white cami layered underneath for modesty, and one of my favorite cardigans over it all. I added the back shot because it has such amazing detail to it, and I love how it droops some in the back. On my feet, I wore simple white flats and a blue and purple ankle bracelet.

This outfit was cute and cool on a 90 degree day. I love my flats because they are cute and somewhat fancy, but easy and comfortable to walk in. (and walking is an important thing at any college!) I like this cardigan because it makes a tank top more modest, but is short-sleeved and cool.

The only issue with this outfit is the layers. I got warmer faster than if I didn’t have the cami under it. But the cami keeps the chest in check and keeps me modest. So I guess getting hot a little faster is an okay consequence for being modest, because with the short-sleeved light cardigan, I could cool off pretty quickly.

Have a wonderful day!

Day One, Outfit One, Post One

Outfit One

SO here is my first day of school outfit. (disclaimer: this isn’t me on the first day of school. I cam up with the idea for this blog a few days later. But I can promise you that this is what I wore)

It’s a simple, plain black short sleeve shirt, a chevron light pink and white scarf, boot cut jeans form Kohls, and I wore my vans.

I really liked this outfit; it made me feel  super confident. This biggest pros of this is it was short sleeve. I did a lot of walking around my first day, and it was a hot day. That being said, it was a good idea to go with a short sleeve. I liked the scarf because it was a light scarf, so it wasn’t too hot, but still kept me warm enough in the chilly classroom. I’m not a fan of wearing shorts to school, so the pants were a nice choice. I’m in love with boot cut jeans. I’ll write a post about that some day… anyways, the jeans were also nice. And vans are easy to walk in, and on a first day I had no idea what I was walking in to, so I needed to be prepared.

But, nothing is perfect… this outfit was pretty hot towards lunchtime when I did the most amount of walking. Granted, it’s August so any outfit would be hot if I’m wearing pants. And my vans are really old and falling apart so my feet started to hurt, but that’s totally my fault – I really need new shoes.

All in all, this outfit was comfy, cute and confident blinding. Very practice for a first day of school.

What do you like to wear on the first day?

Who I am, What I do

My name is Rachael, and I’m a first time community college student. I go to school in Reading, Pennsylvania and I’m totally new to this whole college life.  This blog is a fashion blog all about what I wear each day. I’ll tell you the pros and cons of each outfit and hopefully give you some inspiration. My goal is to be relatable to the average community college kid. I can’t afford the top-of-the-line, designer clothes. I’m not afraid to admit that at I get my clothes from Walmart or Target. Many are regifted from my friends. So welcome to my Community College Closet!
